Play Bax 4 with BPO

Calling all string players - spend a morning with BPO exploring Bax’s lush, brooding, and harmonically adventurous Symphony No. 4.

The Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to invite a limited number of external string players to join us for a morning rehearsal and workshop exploring Bax’s Symphony No. 4.

As one of the Midlands’ leading amateur orchestras, BPO is known for the strength and depth of all its sections. For this workshop, our wind, brass, and percussion sections will be fully represented by BPO’s own players, whose reputation for excellence goes before them. Guest participants will join forces with BPO’s string players, experiencing first-hand the orchestra’s string sections, known for both their incredible musicianship and friendliness.

The session will take place in the magnificent Bradshaw Hall at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, under the direction of Michael Lloyd. It promises to be an engaging and rewarding morning; an opportunity to explore Bax’s richly textured symphony and experience playing within a full symphonic ensemble.
