Sing in Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony with the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra

Join us for a thrilling opportunity to perform one of the most powerful and moving works in the choral symphonic repertoire, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection.” We will also be performing Bruckner’s Psalm 150 and Brahms “How lovely are thy dwellings” from the German Requiem, both with chorus.

We’re inviting singers of all voice parts — soprano, alto, tenor, and bass — to join the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) Chorus for two unforgettable performances in June 2026:

Performances

• Sunday 7 June, 19:30 – Leominster Priory
• Sunday 14 June, 15:00 – Birmingham Town Hall

Experience the grandeur and emotional power of Mahler’s masterpiece, performed with full orchestra and soloists in two stunning venues. We would be delighted to have singers join us for both performances, but you are very welcome to participate in just one performance if you are unable to perform in both.

Please note that the performance in Leominster Priory will not include the Bruckner, but we will be performing both of the works by Brahms and Mahler in this concert.

Chorus Rehearsal

To prepare for the concerts, there will be one dedicated chorus rehearsal. This is your opportunity to meet the conductor, rehearse with your fellow singers, and bring the choral works to life together:

• Sunday 31 May 2026, 14:00 – 17:00 – Bradshaw Hall, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

There will also be rehearsals for the chorus on each of the concert days:

• Sunday 7 June, 16:30-18:00 – Leominster Priory
• Sunday 14 June, 12:00-13:30 – Birmingham Town Hall

Who Can Join

We welcome experienced choral singers from all backgrounds. Whether you’re a member of a choir or an independent singer, if you can read music and have choral experience, we’d love to have you join us.

All voices — Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass are warmly invited.

Please note that our performances will be sung in German for all three works. We are planning to provide more learning aids to assist with the German pronunciations for each work.
