  • Outside of BPO, what is your occupation?

    Retired - previously an NHS manager.


  • How long have you been a member of BPO?

    That's a difficult question: From 1983 to1998, then regular depping from 2009 to 2019 when I became a member again. 

  • What inspired you to take up your instrument?

    I already played the recorder. School had a flute I could borrow.


  • How did you come to join the orchestra?

    I moved to Birmingham in 1983, immediately got in contact with John Franklin and started playing with BPO a few weeks later.

  • Most treasured occasion with the BPO?

    All of the Mahler 8s plus Das Rheingold.

  • Any moments you would rather forget?

    Water in a piccolo key in Leominster.

  • Favourite composer? Least favourite composer?

    I'd like to play more Nielsen. 

  • Work(s) you would like to play before you die?

    As many as possible.
